SEX/DEATH
£300.00
In a further examination of mortality in the vein of “Drive your cart…” – this circular piece once again addresses existence, purpose and inevitability.
Heavy impasto day glo rays crown a crude skull, representing what all creatures will finally become and contemplates SEX and DEATH. Portions of an article from an original 1940s Rosicrucian magazine have been redacted – a cheeky nod to William Burroughs – to reveal the dichotomy of creation and destruction, beginnings and endings, bliss and oblivion, the alpha and the omega.
Original work, 2023 by Mike Richardson.
Liquitex acrylics, inks, pens, vintage magazine decoupage and varnishes on 30cm circular stretched black canvas, monographed, dated and quoted to version.
