No Longer…Not Yet
£500.00
The title refers to the moment, now, when life is no longer as it once as been and not yet what it will become. The gap between the canvases is that moment which can never be captured or recorded, we simply look backwards, or forwards.
Exploring liminality, which Wikipedia defines thus:
…the quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of a rite of passage, when participants no longer hold their pre-ritual status but have not yet begun the transition to the status they will hold when the rite is complete.
Each panel has half of the circle, in gold, which implies that the circle can only be completed by the other half – as above, so below, thing and no thing, ego and spirit. Each has a representation of a figure looking back or forward, neither of which are attainable.
“No longer..” has rich reds and oranges and “..Not Yet” compliments this with blues.
Designed to be hung together, with a small space between the unframed pieces.
Liquitex acrylics, vintage maps, and clay figures on two 10″ (25cm) square stretched canvases.
